Beautiful?

I recently attended “A Picture of Health”, a talk and exhibition of new works recently aquired by the excellent charity Art in Healthcare. One of my own pieces “Across The Water” was on display, which I donated to the charity earlier in the year.
A couple of people described the work as ‘beautiful’ and I immediately felt uncomfortable. It’s strange that I find it so easy (in fact I find it impossible not to) get enthusiastic about other artists work. However, when the attention is on my own work I actually find myself trying to steer the conversation onto anything else but my work.

Beautiful? Its a lovely compliment and I should be really grateful.
Anyway, a piece of work that I categorically think is above and beyond beautiful is Hannah Haworth’s “The Hunt” an installation currently on display at Union Gallery, Edinburgh.
